article on our ecological mission

Ariane Mimautlt wrote a very nice article on the challenges of having the mission of creating toys that are not only good for children but also for the environment.

" Making 100% eco-friendly doggies is not easy! You have to look for lots or scraps of natural fabrics, collect them, store them, get the wool stuffing, use no artificial fibers, no padding polyester. You have to sew and assemble by hand, take care not to waste the material, recover as much production residue as possible, plan the useful life of the plush but also, how it will end its journey, that is- that is, ideally not in the trash. You must therefore make something solid that will last a long time and something compostable when the fabric has given up the ghost.

Quite a challenge that the Ouistitine team has been tackling for 8 years. Founder Camille Frenette designs her superb fabric companions constantly keeping in mind the ecological footprint of her production, which she wants to be minimal. In fact, once worn out, these doggies can be buried, literally, without the environment suffering any harmful consequences. A real zero waste doggie, wow!”
